19th April 2002
Upper Thames Street, EC4R 3TJ
Day number two & Kath’s turn at the lucky dip has turned up something even older. Still a bit jaded from hanging the exhibition, so today’s entry is mercifully easily explained…
Here is the notoriously intrepid Lloyd Scott sensibly taking no chances against the fairly remote possibility of a tidal surge in the Thames by competing in the 2002 London Marathon in a vintage diving suit. He still has a few miles to complete the course at this point, so his supporters at the finishing line probably aren’t panicking to get the bunting ready just yet.
His eventual 5 days 8 hours 29 minutes & 46 seconds finishing time was but a sprint compared to his efforts dressed as Brian the snail from The Magic Roundabout in 2011 which took the best part of a month, and earned him the sack from his charity afterwards for not raising enough money.
