There’s something peculiarly English about a Tea Dance (ok, so the French have their thé dansant, there’s a gay version, the T Dance, and even Native Americans seem to want to celebrate the reviving cuppa): it exudes genteelness and respectability, and is a very civilized way to while away a summer’s afternoon.
